Michael Mallock and the RSWilliams team had a mixed weekend at the latest round of the GT4 European Cup, held at the Paul Ricard circuit in the south of France.
At a circuit not well suited to the Aston Martin GT4, Michael qualified in 4th and 3rd positions for the two 40 minute races.
Race One took place in scorching heat, with an ambient temperature of 37 degrees and temperatures in the car reaching 60degrees Centigrade, Michael and the team worked hard and were rewarded with their 5th consecutive podium of the season.
Race 2 was in similar heat and after a strong opening part of the race, the RSWilliams car suffered a rare transmission failure, leading the car to retire 5 laps from the end of the race.
"It was great to get another podium this weekend, and we certainly worked for it in these conditions!" said Mallock after the event, "Race 2 was a real disappointment, we haven't had any mechanical failures this year, and its a shame to have lost a good result from something outside of the teams control, we need work with Astons to establish the cause, and make sure we don't lose another result through something like this. One more slip up will put us really out of contention for the Championship."
Michael remains second in the points table, now 14 points behind the leading Paul Meijer. The series resumes at the end of August at the Nurburgring.
